Could it be....

Last night after dinner Mike and I were sitting on the couch watching a movie, and I think I felt the baby move for the first time!! It felt like little flutters going on inside my stomach. I have been waiting in anticipation for that moment throughout my whole pregnancy, and am so excited that I finally got to experience it!!!! I cant wait for the day when I can feel my baby move all the time, and for Mike to finally be able to feel our baby kick. I know it's not to far away from now!

16 Weeks

Today I am exactly 4 months and 6 days pregnant! I cant believe how fast time is going. In 3 weeks I will be 20 weeks, which is halfway through my pregnancy! December 16th I had an appointment with my midwife, which went really well. They said my blood pressure was perfect, and everything feels right on track. I also got to hear the baby's heartbeat! My midwife said the heartbeat sounded strong and healthy, and she said it felt like the baby was moving around a lot! I haven't felt the baby's movements yet, I keep waiting in anticipation for it everyday. My midwife said that I probably wont feel the baby until I am around 18-20 weeks.

I also asked her how far along I need to be for Mike and I to get an ultrasound to find out the gender, she said she would like me to wait until 20 weeks to get an ultrasound. We are so excited to be able to see our baby for the first time through an ultrasound, and to finally find out what we are having! Everyone we have asked has said they think we are having a boy, which has also been my guess, but ya never know, we could all be completely wrong. Either way I am so excited whether we have a boy or girl.

Everyday I am feeling better and better, which is so amazing. I finally have energy again and can actually be productive. I am enjoying life a lot more now!

Second Trimester

I am now in my second trimester! I am so excited about that, and I am really, really hoping that the morning sickness will soon come to an end. On Thursday our midwife asked for us to come into the office. Mike had called them on Wednesday to let them know that I am not able to keep much food down (this has been going on for a couple months now), and he told them I have lost about 20 lbs.

Mike and I were really worried, and just wanted to make sure everything is ok with our baby. Our midwife told us that the baby will take what it needs first, and that experiencing morning sickness into the second trimester is normal for some woman. She gave me a lot of different tricks to try out to help with the nausea and vomiting. She also said that if I cant keep anything down (food and water) for 24 hrs to call them immediately.

We got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the second time, it is already starting to sound so much stronger and louder then the first time we got to hear our baby's heartbeat. It was so reassuring to be able to hear the heartbeat, I felt like I could breath again. The first time we heard the heartbeat the heart rate was 160, now it's 120. I am pretty convinced it's a boy, but we wont know for sure for another couple weeks.

This week is a busy week for our baby, lot's of growing! Our baby is now 3 1/2 inches long and weighs 1 1/2 ounces. He/She can now squint, frown, pee, and suck his/her thumb. It's amazing how fast our little baby is growing everyday. I cant wait till I can hold him/her in my arms, look into their eyes and give them lots of kisses all over!

Our Chicago Trip

We had a great time in Chicago, spent a lot of time with my family which was so nice since we don't get to see them very often. Mike got to spend some time with one of his good friends, and I got to see a good friend of mine and her husband, who by the way is also expecting! We had a great time at thanksgiving, my Grandma always makes the best dinner. Most of my cousins were there as well, I cant believe how fast they are all growing up. At dinner my Grandma made a toast, and announced to the family that Mike and I had some very exciting news to share. Before I could even get out that we were expecting, my uncle said Congratulations and started clapping, the rest of my family followed. It was pretty funny, I guess everyone already knew. On Wednesday me, Mike, and my Dad went over to my Aunt and Uncle's house for dinner. It was so good to see the family, we had a really good time and after dinner played a game of gin rummy with my cousins. I miss my family very much and sometimes it is really hard living so far away from everyone, I feel like I am missing out on so much, but I am very grateful that I got to spend time with everyone during Thanksgiving week.

Some other news, I am wearing glasses now, I have to take a long break from contacts. I got a really bad eye infection as soon as we arrived in Chicago, and spent the first 3 days not being able to see at all. My eye seems to be all healed now, and my Dad bought me a pair of glasses. I am still continuing to experience morning sickness, at least 2-3 times a day. Besides the morning sickness though, I am starting to feel better, and I seem to have more energy so that's really exciting. My husband has been so great, he takes care of me everyday. I really feel like the luckiest girl in the world that I am his wife!

It's nice to be back in Seattle, this month is going to be very busy. I cant wait for my husband and I to get our first Christmas tree and decorate it together!

Today I am 13 weeks and 4 days pregnant, my third prenatal appointment is December 14th.

A Pregnancy Update

When will the morning sickness go away? I cant seem to keep very much down these days. My midwife said it should go away when I am somewhere between 12-14 weeks, I really hope that will be true for me. Tomorrow I am exactly 12 weeks, I cant believe I am already 3 months along!! I cant wait to start feeling better. I haven't been keeping up with cleaning the apartment, or the laundry, and I don't cook at all anymore. I am beginning to feel so lazy, and I really miss being able to do all the things I used to do. Oh well, I know that all this sickness is for a good cause, and in 7 months I will have a beautiful baby!

Mikes sister Cory is picking us up at 3:30 am on Saturday to take us to the airport. It is going to be so difficult to get up that early, I don't know what I was thinking when I picked that time, but we are so excited to see our family and friends, and I am so excited to get to go to Thanksgiving at my Grandma's house, she always throws the best Thanksgiving party!!

Oh lastly I think I am going to start doing either a monthly or weekly photo of my belly growing, I know it will be something fun to look at later on with our baby.

A Perfect Weekend

This weekend has been so busy, but so much fun! Every Friday I get an email from babycenter that tells me I am now one week further along in my pregnancy. I learn about all the changes that are taking place with my baby everyday, and I get to see a picture of what my baby may look like inside the womb at each week. I look forward to reading that email every Friday, it's such a great start to my weekend!!

Every year my husband goes to CMS (Christian Music Summit) it's a two day event filled with different workshops and concerts. Friday and Saturday evening they have there big worship concert, which I have gone to 3 years in a row now. This year I only went to the Saturday concert. I honestly thought I wasn't going to have the greatest time because earlier when I was getting ready I was feeling a little frustrated that none of my clothes fit anymore, and I really wanted to dress up a little nicer the usual and look pretty. When I picked up my husband though he just made me feel so much better, and he kept saying how beautiful I looked! We went out to dinner, and then headed to the concert. I really had such an amazing time!! Lately I have been feeling a little stressed out, and have been dealing with being sick everyday for almost three months now, so I really haven't had much fun or energy lately. This was the first night I felt completely at peace, and so close to God. I felt so loved with my husband standing next to me, and our baby inside me, and we were all worshiping God together. That night was really something that I needed!!! and I just thank Jesus so much for always being with me, and for giving me the courage and strength when some days I feel like I have none left.

On Sunday my husband and I went to church, and right before the service started my husbands sister and her boyfriend walked in with Mikes dad. I couldn't believe it, we haven't seen Brittany in 4 months, so it was such a wonderful surprise!!! After the service we talked and Brittany and her boyfriend invited us over to their new apartment for dinner. We had a really good time with them, and it was so nice to be able to catch up with them in person! I love knowing that our baby has such a great family (from both sides) that will love them always!

Today I am 11 weeks and 4 days, we have our second prenatal appointment today, and get to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time! 4 days till we go to Chicago, cant wait to see my family!

Our First Prenatal Appoitment

Our favorite birth room

Before I even became pregnant I knew that I wanted to have a very natural pregnancy, labor and delivery. It's just something that has always been very important to me. Mike and I decided to go with a midwife for my prenatal care and deliver our baby at a birth center with the help of our midwife. We had our first appointment with Puget Sound Midwives on October 21st. At our first appointment I mostly filled out a lot of paperwork, asked a lot of questions, and they took my blood so they could do some lab work on me and make sure everything is looking good with my baby and I.

We also got to take a tour of the birth center, there are 3 birth rooms, all 3 rooms are decorated differently and range in size. The rooms are very intimate, warm and cozy and include a large bathtub and bed that you can use. Which ever room we want to use for our labor and delivery is up to us. We have our second appointment on November 16th, at that appointment we finally get to hear our baby's heartbeat! I am so excited, I know it is going to be such an amazing and special moment for Mike and I! We plan on videotaping it so we can show our families and friends. I know I will probably watch that video a million times!

My Growing Belly

Today I am exactly 10 weeks pregnant! I cant believe how fast time is going, in three weeks I will be out of my first trimester. I am really looking forward to my second trimester, everyone has told me that, that's when they started feeling so much better. The constant nausea, morning sickness, super woman sense of  smell, and fatigue have me so worn down, but I know it's all worth it. Plus in my second trimester I get to hear my baby's heartbeat, find out the gender, feel my baby's movements and watch my baby bump grow.

My body is already changing so much, to me I definitely feel and look pregnant, but I think all the changes that are occurring with me are unnoticeable to the outside world. I already bought a pair of maternity jeans and sweat pants because my jeans feel so uncomfortable now. I can tell I am going to need some new tops really soon too. It is all very exciting but I will admit sometimes all these changes can be a little scary.

Shout It From The Roof Top

Finding out that I am pregnant is just one of the most exciting things that have ever happened to me, I just want to tell the whole world..... but I cant, not yet at least. We told are immediate family, and some of our friends know, and our bosses know but that's about it as of now. For Thanksgiving week Mike and I heading back to Chicago to visit family and friends. We are so excited, and at thanksgiving dinner we plan on sharing our exciting news with the rest of my family, as well as tell our friends when we see them. I really just cant wait!!  I want to spill the beans and tell everyone right now but when I think about the fact that we get to tell everyone in person in just a couple weeks it makes it a little easier to wait!

How it All Began

On Thursday September 30th I found out that we were expecting our first baby. When I took that first pregnancy test I really was not expecting to see the little blue plus sign, but there it was and it appeared on four more pregnancy tests! After five tests I knew I was definitely pregnant! I was filled with so much love and joy and excitement as well as complete shock, I couldn't believe I had a precious little baby growing inside me!  A couple hours later I called my husband. I really didn't want to tell him on the phone but I also really did not want to wait until he got home at 10:30 at night. So I called him and told him the exciting news, he was definitely shocked but so excited to start this new chapter in our lives! Mike and I are both so excited to have a precious little baby on the way, and though this exciting news came unexpectedly we truly believe it is such a blessing from God! My due date is June 3rd 2011 which makes me 9 weeks and 4 days as of today!
