" A portrait of my child, once a week, every week in 2014. "

This week we have officially begun potty training Chloe. We've had a bit of a rough start, but I am trying my best to remind myself that this is only the beginning and that this journey is going to take time and a lot of patience, love and respect. For all you Mama's out there who have gone through the potty training process or even if you are currently potting training your child what advice and tips do you have for me, I would absolutely love to read what your experience has been like!

  2. Love the toes! Oh, potty training. Patience, love and respect - yes, absolutely. Every child is different. Mine took their time (especially my son), but one day it just clicks. You will get through it. Just pay attention. I noticed my kids needed to go potty as soon as they sat down to eat. It was as if it was their bodies cue to empty out before putting anything new in. Try having her sit on the potty before a meal or immediately after. Definitely first thing in the morning and before bed. There will be many accidents and stubborn refusals to even try, just remember to breath through it. Good luck.

  3. Potty training with my first (Yasmin who is now 7) was so simple. She was ready, but we had many many accidents. Don't give up, and its ok to skip a day!! Best to keep a positive attitude about it and do give treats as encouragement!!

  4. Very cute pic. I failed with my potty training - very late with both my kids (I blame it on struggling through a bad marriage and a drinking cheating husband.....I could only face one problem at a time. My kids are 10 and 8 so yes they are potty trained but I think it's just a matter of getting through the storm to get out the other side to calm waters. OMG what we mothers have to do.... good luck with it all. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia

  6. We tried potty training Ezrah twice, once before Soren was born which was wayyy too early (even though she was showing interest). She just wasn't ready and I don't think she had the muscle control. We tried again right after he was born, shortly before she turned two. She got the pee right away (we did Skittles, sticker chart, and letting her roam naked). Poop was a whole different story. She was in underwear for TWO months (because she hated diapers, and was peeing on the potty without accidents regularly) before she started pooping on the potty. Yupp, this means two months of gross, messy accidents in her underwear. We even tried to transition back into diapers after a couple weeks of accidents but she refused. So we just kept at it, trying to catch it and bring her to the potty if we noticed she had to go. We did the sticker chart with poop too, but she definitely just needed to be ready. So I guess my advice is just follow Chloe's lead. If she seems ready, go for it, even if she is having accidents. Good luck!! (It's awesome once you get there).
